No. There is a myth that all salt is the same, particularly when it comes to swimming pools but recent independently generated research has shown that is simply untrue. All pool salt contains other elements that have attached to the lattice structure of the crystal itself, into internal crystal spaces or reside on the surface. The result for example is that all salts don’t dissolve at the same rate. Independent double blind tests of 16 different salts produced in North America show that some salts take up to 4 times longer to dissolve. Some even have significant contamination from organic matter leading to pool clouding and chlorine demand…so; they can’t possibly be the same. And we have come to learn that this seemingly little difference makes a big difference in swimming pools.
